I want a cross-country course, for jumping jumps over. I realize that typically this is the sort of thing that costs a gazillion dollars and is used by very rich people with very expensive horses. I'm gonna be doing the cheap option, myself.

Fences are going to be (now that we can bravely jump 2'6" in controlled and non-scary conditions) 2' tall with option to make them bigger. Fences are going to be constructed of things that look sturdy and imposing but that really aren't all that sturdy or imposing. They have to be move-able by the kiddies, so not all that heavy. I'm not sure we can make anything that requires a backhoe, but watch this space.

Route is pretty basic. Up hill, bear left at pear tree. Across field towards jumps. Past jumps, down corner of field to lower fence line. Down through wet/boggy with dead tires. Over rolling hills (probably along old fence line halfway up hill-- there are some problems with groundhog holes on the bottom of the hill), down into hollow and up around back alfalfa field, onto trail/road thing there, which picks up road into hollow near the junk. Make left onto road down into the hollow, possibility of water hazard (there's a nice sized creek with good footing), steep climb to buckwheat field, through woods to baby field, along perimeter of baby field to chain gate right below pear tree.

This doesn't have to be one all in one go. I would like to have five or six jumps to start, though. Need to start working on this once the competitive ride is done.
