I spent most of today smoking bacon. That went well. I cooked up some of the bacon and ate it. It was a bit saltier than I would like but otherwise is spectacular. I think if I do this again, there will be about half as much salt in the cure. Everything else, though, wow. It was good.
There's always other news. In this particular other news, brother-the-younger has set up a recipe wiki for our stuff. It's here. I've never edited a wiki before, so there was something of a learning curve and the whole thing still seems very bootstrappish* to my untutored eye. I mean honestly, I edit (for example) "New Recipes" and I just freaking PUT SOMETHING IN THERE and then voila, I can click on this thing that does not exist that I just put there by writing it in, see, and the internets (yes, yes, I understand that it's the particular server running the particular wiki) take me to where I can make it exist, right away. And all the links, they are made by magic and auto-update with the tags and things. It's very... odd. Feet are still touching the ground, though, yes? Yes.
That's all right, then.
*bootstrappish as in bootstrap levitation, the idea that a dedicated soul can, by dint of pulling hard enough on his bootstraps, levitate himself off the ground.
