Notes to self for The Ride
Mile 0 to mile 1: Good. Starts out nice and flat (slight uphill grade) like our Betsy Road ride. Make some time, here.
Mile 1 to mile 2: Steep climb, some 400 ft. Slow down until you're over it. Then do a dip but not a big one. Bottom of dip may have seasonal creek which you will not need yet.
Mile 2 to mile 3: Up-N-Down over Tussey Mtn. Go gently, this is steep 200 up and 200 down.
Mile 3 to mile 4: Not hideous. It's a Down-n-Up, but not bad.
Mile 4 to mile 5: long downhill, allegedly has a seasonal creek not far after the 4 mile marker.
Mile 5 to mile 6: first half of it is flat. Second half is a climb.
Mile 6 to mile 7: Climbing back up Tussey Mtn. 500 ft, about. Trucks use low gear.
Mile 7 to mile 8: Going downhill about 300 ft. It's kinda steep for the first half.
Mile 8 to mile 9: Mostly flat. Fly.
Mile 9 to mile 10: Again mostly flat. Fly some more.
Mile 10 to mile 11: Fly.
Mile 11 to mile 12: Going flat for the first half, going downhill after that. Seasonal creek at bottom of dip. Take the downhill part in second half slowly -- it's steep.
Mile 12 to mile 13: downhill-flattish back to camp. Put on those wings.
Lunch break. The ride is now the same damn loop in reverse order. (The route is shaped like a child's drawing of a balloon. The first two miles we will be doing again at mile 11-13 and at mile 13-15 and at mile 24-26 because that's the "string" on the balloon. The rest of the ride, we will see twice, once from each direction.)
Mile 13 to mile 14: make time. It's flat and the horse knows the way.
Mile 14 to 15: 1/2 mile steep climb, then flattish. Book on the flattish.
Mile 15 to mile 18: It's flat. Make time.
Mile 18 to mile 19: flattish into climbing. Gear down.
Mile 19 to mile 20: downhill about 400 feet.
Mile 20 to mile 21: Downhill then flat. Book on the flat.
Mile 21 to mile 22: climbing 200 feet
Mile 22 to mile 23: 100 feet up and then down
Mile 23 to mile 24: Up and over Tussey Mtn. Go gently..
Mile 24 to mile 26: down the dip then up a wee bit and then down down downity down down to home.
