(no subject)

Just finished watching Michael Moore's recent film Sicko. (It's on the torrents.) This was the first of his works that I've actually managed to sit down and watch. Surprisingly, he reminds me of Andy Rooney. In spite of that, he makes some pretty salient points about the medical industry. I've pretty much decided that insurance, and I have pretty good insurance, is a rook. I've saved the bills from the lump-on-the-wrist thing and I'll go over them tomorrow so that all ya'll can see the rook factor.

No other real news, except that I didn't get any woodpile work done this evening because it was too damn hot out.

unless, of course, you end up needing back surgery and are in the hospital for 5 days, wherein the nigh-$100k sticker-shock would likely result in further medical expenses due to cardiac events.

the whole thing is a strangely off-kilter and unnecessarily complex shell game.

I suppose I should see one of his films.

Having been without insurance while I was on Maternity Leave, I can say that I never want to go through that again. Not with hostages to fortune other than myself.

Insurance is necessary for pregnancy, which as you will point out is not a concern for you. We paid 1/10 what the bills were.

Doh! Actually, we paid 1/100th what the bills were, if I recall. And it was still enough to make Eric grumble :)
