Higher maths (mostly statistics) fail me.

In a download containing 101 equally-sized files, what percent of the download must be finished before there's a good chance that at least 1 of the files is complete? Assume that the files download bits and pieces of themselves randomly, without preference toward completing a given file. (Yes, I know that they make torrent clients that prefer some portions of the download over other portions of the download. That one won't give me more than 4 KB/s on my system so I am not using it. Fewer features = faster download. Go figure.) Further assume that I don't give a shit which file is complete. Any one would suit. I need me some Hugh Laurie, stat.

I should have paid more attention in statistics class... )

More ramblings on a topic of interest only to me. In this entry, firming up our model of the downloading process.

All ya'll are on the edges of your seats, right? )
